TLC Support - Services

Through direct action programs people in need in the local area are reached and supported.

Bayswater North and surrounding suburbs have a diversity of needs and many of its residents have few support mechanisms such as a functioning extended family. We attempt to meet these needs in practical ways with a mix of paid and volunteer staff that welcome anyone into our extended community life.

YaFT supports young people and their families in times of need.

YaFT reaches young people via outreach support, counselling, small group work and Bush Adventure Therapy. YaFT partners with schools, refuges, youth agencies, churches and other community groups, individuals and families.

The team aims to work alongside each young person to help them work through life issues, to discover strategies which better develop healthy and meaningful relationships with their families, friends and communities.

Outdoor activities with a bush adventure therapy focus include a 5 month Bush Therapy program with an 8 day sailing trip on the Gippsland Lakes. Day trips include: surfing, rock climbing, mountain bike riding, snowboarding, caving & river sledding and bush walks.

YaFT also provides professional and student supervision, debriefing, secondary consultation, training and lecturing to other youth workers in the field.

YaFT thanks; 3 Fold Resources Community Development, Melbourne City Mission, Xplore, partner agencies and many supportive individuals.

Robert is a Youth and Family Therapist with over 28 years’ experience in the field and is a Clinical Member of Australian Assoc. of Family Therapists (AAFT) and the Australian Association of Bush Adventure Therapy (AABAT).
